Airbrushing where to start

When you find out that your teachers are like these little Demi Gods, of the Makeup world you kind of freak out inside. Most would not admit it but its true. The teacher of this module her name is Gina Fernandez.

Now that we know her name lets say this she is a winner of the “The knot” which is for best weddings etc. that kind of thing. Where you are judge against others for the makeup you do.  Anyways the point is she is really good and she is or was intimidating. And she rocks this 1960’s style, which is one point at all times and is just Gorgeous!

Now lets get into it.

The actual tool which is the “airbrush” has all kinds of different names, come to find out. Some names include gun, wand, and laser-stick, what ever you really want to call it. Quiet interesting if you ask me, I like wand because at the end of the wand you are making magic happen. See what I did there. I made a joke. Gezz, anyways.

So there are a few different types of Foundations that one can use with their “Wand”, Silicone-based, water-based, and of course for all of our SFX people we use Alcohol-based!

There are many different companies that make Airbrush Systems. A few are of course Dinair, Iwata, Mac, Kryloan just to name a few. The system itself is a compressor, airbrush wand, hose, some come in a combo makeup and foundations and colors kit you can buy, and even a 244 fluid cleaner.

Lets go over a few Advantages of the Airbrush “wand” over the traditional makeup application, shall we?

• All day wear it will last up to 10 hours
• No rubbing over when touched
• Water Proof (I.e. sweat proof too)
These are just to name a few

Some Disadvantages are not that bad really if you think about the end game.

• Expensive at the start
• Not able to through into your purse, bag or what have you
• Ventilation is needed if working in small area

Not that bad if you just save up a little then buy it.

Well here are some ingredients. JUST a few though there are way to many
• Pigment
• Methyl Paraben –preservative in case you didn’t know
• Glycerin-humectant
• Solvent
•Resin
These are just to name a few of what is usually found in Airbrush Makeup

If there are any FQA just let me know and I’ll get back to you with the answers you seek!!

At the end of the class I was left in awe. The power that the airbrush has and how easy it is to use, the coverage you get, etc… It was just blowing my mind, at how amazing this is. I will of course be buying one when I safe enough for it. But it will be well worth it just to be able to use and give that all day flawless look. Well that ends it here for this Module, stay tuned for Stage makeup.

With Brush and primer, till next time
